USA Boxing Is A Joke

If anyone asks you where rock bottom is for  American Boxing you can tell them right here-right now. Since you can't get less then none this is the official rock bottom for amateur boxing and perhaps boxing in general in the United States.

It doesn't seem like many care either by the way. In asking this question on my radio program today ( Game On With Bruce Jacobs-3-7pm on 1045 The Team, ESPN Radio) not 1 call..Nada..Nothing.Almost like people don't care. In looking over the Sports media today I haven't seen 1 column or opinion piece on the debacle that is American amateur boxing. Oh by the way for the 1st time in Olympic history the USA will not win 1 medal in boxing. NOT A SINGLE MEDAL. How can this be? Does boxing have a Jerry Colangelo to help bail the water and get the boat going again?

Colangelo took over the USA basketball operation after a devastating Olympic loss and not only are we winning again, it is done mostly with class.

Men's boxing is so bad right now it is being outperformed by the females. Woman boxing is a medal sport for the 1st time ever and the USA has a chance for several medals. Here are some of the  terrible results our boxing team has suffered:

Flyweight Rau'shee Warren lost in the round of 16. Bantamweight Jose Diaz Jr lost in the round of 16. Welterweight Errol Spence was the last of the Americans to survive-he got to the final 8 after a controversial win in the round of 16. Lightweight Jose Ramirez sent packing in the round of 16. And on and on and on..No American except Spence made it past the final 16.

9 up-9 down. A total wipe out and disgrace! The last Gold medal USA won in boxing was back in 2004. We won 1 medal in 2008 in Beijing.

I don't know enough to place the blame on any 1 person or 2 people. However I do know inept when I watch it and see the results. Right now USA boxing is a joke on the world stage!
