Three Tri-City ValleyCats pitchers combined to throw the second no-hitter in franchise history on Thursday night.

The 'Cats beat the Aberdeen IronBirds, 5-0, to move to 26-20 overall. Tri-City is 2.0 ahead of the Lowell Spinners in the Stedler Division.

Kevin McCanna started the game, tossing 4.0 innings. He allowed just one walk and had five strikeouts.

Ralph Garza relieved McCanna, also going 4.0 innings. He walked no one and fanned seven.

In the ninth, Zac Person got the ball, and he tossed a perfect inning.

The last time the ValleyCats threw a no-hitter was in 2008, when they beat the Oneonta Tigers. That information comes from the Albany Times Union.

On the offensive side of things, Tri-City scored four runs in the top of the first and one in the top of the second.

Aaron Mizell went 3-5 with two triples. Hector Roa and Anthony Hermelyn also posted multi-hit games for the ValleyCats.

The two teams play again tonight at 7:05.
