At the end of Super Bowl XLVI Wes Welker had a chance to be a big hero for New England, but wasn't able to come up with the big catch.  After the game he said that he let the team down.

With less than a minute left to play the New England Patriots had the ball and a chance to steal the victory from the New York Giants.  That's now a what if scenario, as the Giants beat the Pats 21-17.  In that final drive by the Patriots Tom Brady did his job by putting the ball where his receivers needed it, but they just couldn't come up with it.

One of the biggest drops came from one of Brady's most reliable receivers, Wes Welker.  After the game when addressing the media he said there was no excuse.

It's a play I never drop. Most critical situation, and I let the team down.

-Wes Welker

Is Welker completely to blame though?  It seemed as though the entire team, with the exception of Brady, collapsed under the pressure.  Deion Branch also dropped a pass that surely would have sent him into the end zone.
