Which Capital Region Police Unit Gives Out the Most Tickets?
You're driving down the road in the Capital Region, having a nice day, when all of a sudden, the blue and red lights begin to flash.
We've all been there, and if you haven't, then you've driven by someone going through it. Traffic tickets are among the most...let's say popular...violations awarded by local police officers, and drivers all over the Capital Region get them every single day.
That being said, some cities in the district have given out more traffic tickets than others, and we have the numbers to prove it.
The Amount of Traffic Tickets Given Out By Capital Region Police Units
New York's official state website keeps statistics on all of the major happenings in the state, including the amount of traffic tickets given out by different police units across the state.
In the state of New York, the most violations occur in January, and each month sees a drop in violations throughout a calendar year. Monday has the most violations, but of all days, Thursday is right up there, as well.
The violation title "speed in zone" has by far the most violations, with "disobeying a traffic device" coming in second. What's more, men receive more than double, and almost triple, the amount of traffic tickets as women.
Also, something that's a major issue for me, is that 23-year olds receive more traffic tickets than any other age in the state. Apparently, I'll have to be extra careful on the roads for the next few months.
Here are some of the police units in the Capital Region, from 2018 through the end of 2021.
Did any of these numbers surprise you? I'm curious if any seem too high, or too low, to anyone who lives there.
