On Friday night, Bernie Williams finally retired as a New York Yankee after a nine year delay.

In a pre-game press conference, before the Subway Series began, Yankees media filled the press conference room in which a new Bernie Williams logo was unveiled by the Pinstripes.

After the long delay, why is it now that Williams made the decision to officially retire?

"You're asking me to find some rational in something that Bernie Williams does," said Buster Olney, on 104.5 The Team. "He's unusual, there's no question about that. I really loved covering Bernie, I had him for four years. But he could definitely be flaky.

"You come up with a wide range of reasons as to why this is happening right now, but you know what? I don't know any of them and I don't know if Bernie does either."

The Yankees will retire Williams' number this summer in a ceremony at Yankee Stadium.

Buster Olney joins Armen and Levack every Thursday at 5:15p ET, thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings, exclusively on 104.5 The Team.
