Boston Red Sox PA announcer Carl Beane was killed in a single car crash this afternoon in Sturbridge Massachusetts. He was 59 years old.

Beane joined the Red Sox in 2003 and was the voice of Fenway Park when the Sox broke their 86 year World Series curse, as well as when they won their 2007 championship. An early investigation of the accident indicates that Beane was the driver and only person in his SUV when veered off the road and struck a tree. Beane was pronounced dead at Harrington Hospital shortly after the crash.
