The Yankees have had an MLB-worst August when it comes to their putrid offense. ESPN's Buster Olney says it's not right to point the finger at Alex Rodriguez.

"Let’s face it guys, he’s 40 years old," said Olney, to Armen and Levack, on 104.5 The Team. "There’s no guarantee he’s going to bounce back during the year.

"If he doesn’t have another at-bat the rest of the season, I think we’ll look at his numbers and say, ‘You know what? He contributed a lot more than what people generally expected.’"

Rodriguez has been batting .255 with 26 home runs on the season, almost twice the amount that most people would have projected.

"It has to be other guys. You have to have Brett Gardner or Jacoby Ellsbury stay healthy, stay in the lineup and produce. To think that you’re going to continually lean on Alex Rodriguez is unrealistic. They have to get production from other places."

Buster Olney joins 'Armen and Levack' every Thursday at 5:15p ET, sponsored by All-Star Wine and Spirits in Latham Farms, on 104.5 The Team.
