The Yankees' offense has been terrible and they may be the nicest thing i can say about them. The Yanks were built to pitch really good, play great defense and score runs through small ball. The pitching has been okay considering the fact Masahiro Tanaka, Chase Whitley and Chris Martin are on the DL and Ivan Nova hasn't even made his 2015 debut yet. The defense hasn't even come close to what we expected and the runs have been scored on Home Runs.

Home Runs are fine but this team was not built for the long ball. The power surge was unexpected and shouldn't be a shock to anyone the power went out, well until yesterday. So the issue is without Jacoby Ellsbury at the top of the line up there's one less guy on base and now a team that should have one or two speedsters on base every time the lineup turns over is now living and dying by the home run. Moving forward the Yankees hitters need to work counts (make pitchers throw more pitches), get on base (a walk is as good as a hit) and advance the runner (steal bases, hit and run and god forbid BUNT).

So the key tonight for the Yankees make Jason Vargas work, make him throw pitches, get on base...or hit a ton of home runs...you know whichever works.
