Class AA Basketball Brackets Released

It's an exciting day around Section II as today is "Selection Wednesday." We get our first look at the Sectional playoff brackets for both boys' and girls' basketball.

Here, we take a look at the Class AA brackets on both the boys' and girls' sides.

On the boys' side, Shen is the No. 1 seed and the clear favorite. They are 20-0 and completed a second straight unbeaten season in Section II. Armed with the area's best player in Marlyand-bound senior Kevin Huerter, Shen should breeze through the early rounds.

Who can challenge them? Well, Guilderland is the No. 2 seed and has the best big man around in Andrew Sischo. They could catch Shen on an off-night and beat them. Other than that, No. 3 Green Tech is always a threat with their athleticism.

On the girls' side, it's a three-horse race between Shen, Bethlehem and Albany. Shen boasts a good trio in Carly Boland, Sydney Brown and Samira Sangare but Bethlehem has Jenna Giacone and Albany possesses toughness and athleticism.
