"Professional baseball has been my dream for my entire life," Whitley said, to Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team, Monday afternoon. "To have this opportunity, it's been special. We're still negotiating but we're going to work it out and I want to play pro ball."

The Rays are an organization that Whitley already feels comfortable with.

"I have had a really good relationship with the Rays this whole time. The area scout, the guy who drafted me, came to all my games. He is a really good guy. He's had my back, any questions I had about the Rays or the majors he answered it.

"They liked me for all the same reasons all the teams liked me. Potential, bat speed, power, mature."

At 18 years old, Whitley is handling the situation in the most impressive way.

"I don’t feel much pressure. I am not worried about acting like a pro. I'm pretty good at that already, I'm going to get used to it more.

Armen and Levack can be heard weekly from 3 to 7p ET, on 'your home for New York sports', 104.5 The Team.
