Both Siena and UAlbany should be happy that the non conference basketball season is over.  Siena sits at 2-11 overall while UAlbany sits at 8-7 overall.  That win total matches the Great Danes season total where they went 8-23 last year.  Siena is significantly worse than they were a year ago but that doesn't matter because they have a 1-1 MAAC conference record so far while UAlbany sits at 0-0.  Everything refreshes in the New Year as every college basketball both local or national and the slate is clean.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Siena and UAlbany men's basketball teams are finished with the non-conference schedule and set to begin the season that counts the most which is the MAAC and America East Conference schedules. UAlbany is a much-improved team with a chance to make a significant jump from the bottom of the standings which is where they finished last season. And Siena will be much better in conference play the fan base might be thinking. Saints are coming off competitive lose at UMass and the addition of Sean Durugordon makes Siena a team that can compete for wins every night out in the MAAC starting on Friday at MVP Arena against Fairfield.

UAlbany will definitely get into the America East Tournament this year and I'm confident that Siena will make a push here soon too.  Both teams need to improve and conference plays only helps that with how competitive it is.  Let the America East and MAAC Seasons begin.
