Ivan Nova Goes On the Disabled List

They keep falling like flies. That could be Joe Girardi's claim. The Yankees placed pitcher Ivan Nova on the 15 day DL. Nova was pulled during the his last start vs the White Sox.

Nova claims he hadn't felt any pain until that inning. Yankee fans have been in pain watching him pitch lately. The big right hander had  been terrible lately, the White Sox just being the latest. In his last 10 starts Nova has been lit up, allowing 40 hits over 29 innings, going 2-5 with an e.r.a. over 6.

Nova was the man for a long stretch with the Yanks, on a staff that included C.C Sabathia. Nova had won 15 straight decisions spanning 2 seasons  from June of last season until April of this year.

The diagnosis on Nova aren't a disaster if it is all it turn s out to be. Inflammation in his right rotator  cuff.

Ironically Nova goes on the DL as Sabathia is set to come off. In fact CC will be starting the 1st game of the weekend 3 game series against the sliding Indians.

With Tampa Bay's victory over Oakland on Thursday and the Yanks being idle that once "huge' lead of 10.5 games is down to 2.5 games in the AL East and the lead over the Orioles is at 5. While the Yanks take on Cleveland for the next 3 days the Rays continue their series against the A's and Baltimore will tangle with Toronto in Baltimore over the weekend....
