There isn't much separating bush-league and gamesmanship - separating cheap and illegal and funny and inventive and an unexpected but welcomed part of playing professional sports.

It's a thin line.

J.R. Smith just stepped all over that line, and maybe found a way to unite both sides of it in one, ridiculous act.

Late in the second quarter of the Knicks' Sunday night game against the Mavericks, Smith, with Dirk Nowitzki at the free-throw line, Smith bent at the waist - seemingly to catch is breath - reached down, and untied the shoe of Dallas' Shawn Marion.

Childish?  Cheap?  Bush-league?  Absolutely.  Relatively harmless?  Outrageously funny?  Absolutely.

What say you?  Fair or foul?
