When it came time for the Los Angeles Lakers to make a major decision, they elected to not include Kobe Bryant.  This is a move that they now regret.

The Los Angeles Lakers did not involve Kobe Bryant in the process of selecting a new head coach to replace Phil Jackson.  When the Lakers hired former Cleveland Cavaliers' head coach Mike Brown, it was news to Kobe.  Jim Buss, a Los Angeles Lakers executive and son of owner Dr. Jerry Buss, says he regrets not getting Kobe's input when hiring a new head coach.

"Looking back on it, we should have contacted Kobe," Jim Buss said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "Kobe said it was management's job to pick a coach. He just said, 'Defense first.' That's what we were doing, but we should have reached out to him."

Kevin Martin, a Houston Rockets' guard, was involved in the process of hiring new head coach Kevin McHale.  Kobe Bryant is one of the fiercest competitors in sports.  I find it hard to believe that he doesn't feel somewhat slighted that the Rockets kept Kevin Martin in the loop while the Lakers elected not to involve him.
