The New York Yankees bad luck continues as Closer Mariano Rivera hurt his knee during Batting Practice before Thursday's game against the Royals.

According to various reports on Twitter, #42 was chasing down fly balls in the outfield during batting practice. It is something Rivera has done for years to help with his running. While going after one fly ball he slipped on the warning track and his right knee buckled and was in serious pain.  Rivera had to be carted off the field as he couldn't walk on his right leg at all.

The Yankees just lost Eric Chavez to the disabled list after suffering whiplash in last nights game against the Orioles.  Brett Gardner suffered a setback in his return from the DL recently and Nick Swisher is currently out with a strained Hamstring.

UPDATE: 11:40 pm--Following the game, Manager Joe Girardi said the preliminary diagnosis was a Torn ACL.  Mo will head back to New York for more tests. If this diagnosis is true, Rivera is done for the season. An injury like this at Rivera's age could also be a career ender.  When asked in a post game interview whether he would pitch again Rivera with a tear in his eye and his voice cracking said "I Don't Know".
