After 14 years in a Boston uniform, Jason Varitek is reportedly going to be hanging it up for good on Thursday, according to ESPN.

In April Jason Varitek will turn 40.  Since 1997 he has been one of the most prolific members of the Boston Red Sox, and it looks like he will be hanging it up.  Varitek did express an interest in playing for a few more years, but he is a free agent and no teams have called.

The Red Sox offered Varitek a minor league contract, but has yet to come to the Sox training facility.  Varitek has played all of his 1,546 games in a Boston uniform.
