Ah, and in the end there was nothing to worry about.  According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, RG III will start Week One vs the Eagles on September 9, a Monday Night Football game on ESPN.

The feud that took place during preseason about whether or not RG III would play any preseason games or Week 1 against Philadelphia between head coach Mike Shanahan and RG III, which Griffin later declared a non-issue, is really a non-issue now. Griffin's multiple tears in his knee, including an ACL, appear to be 100% healthy. Otherwise, the Redskins wouldn't send him out there against the rival Eagles.

Griffin is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews Thursday night before the preseason finale to get final clearance.  This is a formality at this point.

RG III, Chip Kelly's debut, Michael Vick, NFC East rivalry, Monday Night Football. The NFL wins again.
