The Yankees (21-21) struggles continued on Monday night getting shut out 6-0. Kansas City Royals (17-25) starter Felipe Paulino looked great in his 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs on six hits and struck out eight. Hiroki Kuroda didn’t pitch terrible but gave Kansas City the lead early and that was that. Kuroda went 5 1/3, gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out four. The loss drops Kuroda to 3-6 on the season.

Kansas City got on the board right away off of Kuroda. In the first inning following a Billy Butler single, Mike Moustakas hit a two run home run, his seventh of the year.  In the third inning an Eric Hosmer RBI double put the Royals up 3-0.

Freddy Garcia relieved Clay Rapada in the top of the seventh inning and the first pitch he threw to Jeff Francoeur was hit over the left-center field wall for a two run home run, it was Francoeurs second of the year and put the Royals up 5-0.

A Freddy Garcia wild-pitch in the eighth scored Irving Falu from third base scoring the Royals sixth run.

The Yankees once again had nothing going offensively gathering only six base hits. They had the bases loaded with no one out in the third inning and failed to get a run across, they finished the game 0-13 with runners in scoring position and are now 6 for their last 73 with runners in scoring position. That’s .082 over their last eight games!

Alex Rodriguez went 2-4 with a double. It was A-Rods 500th double of his career.

The Yankees will host the Royals again tomorrow night. Phil Hughes (3-5 5.23) goes for the Yankees while Luke Hochevar (3-4 7.02) starts for the Royals. Pregame starts at 6:30, first pitch at 7:05 right here on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio.
