Maple Hill graduate Jaime Schultz went to 5-3 on Sunday, picking up the win for the AA Montgomery Biscuits (Rays) against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Schultz went five innings, surrendering two runs on four hits. He also posted seven strikeouts.

He was recently named to the Southern League All-Star game for his work this season. He has a 3.11 ERA and has struck out 81 batters in 66.2 innings.

Schultz has a fastball that can top 97 MPH, but also features a good curveball. Earlier this season, we spoke to Biscuits broadcaster Aaron Vargas who said this in regards to whether Schultz has some of the best stuff in the Southern League:

“There’s no question, it’s hands down…All you have to do is just watch hitters. Hitters will tell you what kind of stuff a pitcher has….Stuff is not going to be the issue with him at all…With that kind of stuff, if it’s 0-2 or 1-2, it’s game over.”

If Niskayuna senior Garrett Whitley signs a contract, he will join Schultz as Capital Region products in the Rays system.
