Events after the final 4 game between Kentucky and Louisville have me wondering. Would morons, thugs and idiots cause such a disruption that police would need to come in and turn on the pepper spray to disperse fools that decide, in the name of winning a game, to torch cars, cause harm, burn furniture and make idiots of themselves...

The Rangers held on to their tenuous Atlantic Division lead this week, but the big story is that after a long charge from the depths, the Sabres have wandered their way into playoff position. @JoeBianchino

Despite a rough week, the Rangers became the second team to clinch a playoff birth on Monday and though their conference lead is tenuous, they still sit atop the Eastern Conference and the local NHL teams - many of whom stumbled into Wednesday. @JoeBianchino

In a highly anticipated matchup of the Eastern Conference's best, the Rangers took every punch the Bruins threw - literally - and prevailed. @JoeBianchino

While the Bruins, Devils, Islanders, and Sabres all had tough weeks, the Rangers finished the stretch (since we spoke last Wednesday) above .500, maintaining their nine point lead over the Eastern Conference and domination of the local NHL teams. @JoeBianchino

The New Jersey Devils have been on a tear since the All-Star Break, but the Rangers continue to rule not only the local teams of interest, but the Eastern Conference.

With football now firmly, and ever so depressingly, behind us, the sports world opens up for the NHL to take...stage right (let's face it, the NBA is center stage - sigh).  Pressing on, as any good hockey player would, however, we offer you a brief update on each of the local teams.

So what you want about Bruins golie Tim Thomas saying no thanks to the usual invitation of a sports champ to meet the President at the White House but I give the B's netminder credit for standing by his convictions. Thomas's team mates went to the Whitehouse on Monday to get the usual plaudits from the President, a tradition that has spanned the years...

I was reading Bruce Jacobs' story about fans in Philadelphia being the worst in the sports world. I myself being a fan of the Phillies and Flyers can agree there are a few bad apples out there. But there are bad apples all around. Take for example this Bruins fan:

My Uncle Mark is nicknamed "Uncle Fenway" for a reason.  He actually works for the Red Sox.  His company, Favermann Design, has been designing signage for sporting events for years. They created the "look" for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and are routinely doing work that is seen at Fenway Park every game.
