Siena College Hires Jimmy Patsos As Men’s Basketball Head Coach

The last twenty-five years for the men's basketball program at Siena College has experienced its peaks and valleys, with the recent "peak" being under current Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery and the recent "valley" occurring with recently-fired coach Mitch Buonaguro. Now, fans of the Saints and athletic director John D'Argenio will pin their hopes on a new leader to return the program to its not too distant prominence - Jimmy Patsos from the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds.

Back when current Iowa men's basketball head coach Fran McCaffrey was the main man in charge for the Siena Saints and now former head coach Mitch Buonaguro was experiencing his first year at the helm, Adam Chaskin was there for all the trials and tribulations. From the MAAC Championships to the upsets of Ohio State and Vanderbilt, through the highs and the lows, Chaskin was a staple on the sideline for the Saints during those years.

Mitch Buonaguro was supposed to help bring the Siena Saints back to the NCAA Tournament and reach the heights it hit under former head coach Fran McCaffery. Those dreams are officially dead, as he has been fired from his position as the Saints head coach.

Siena’s O.D. Anosike, Lily Grenci Named All-MAAC Players

Siena Basketball senior captains O.D. Anosike and Lily Grenci were named to their respective All-MAAC Teams Monday. Anosike was a Second Team All-MAAC selection while Grenci was named to the First Team and is eligible to be named the MAAC Player of the Year Thursday.

Siena senior forward O.D. Anosike has accepted an invitation to attend the Portsmouth Invitational Torunament (P.I.T.) April 10-13 in Portsmouth, Virginia. The P.I.T. is a premier showcase for college seniors pursuing basketball careers.

Troy High’s Javion Ogunyemi Commits To Siena

Over the last several months, there has been great drama surrounding the Troy High School basketball team, and it had nothing to do with anything happening on the court. Senior forward Javion Ogunyemi was being recruited by several Division 1 mid-major teams, and recently cut the field down to a pair of finalists: Siena College and James Madison University. Well earlier today, Javion ended the drama by giving his oral commitment to Mitch Buonaguro and the Saints.
