new year. Today they have traded for Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.The Jets will send a late-round conditional draft pick, for the 32-year old quarterback.

Fitzpatrick, is very familiar with the Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, from their time together in Buffalo. This is an ideal situation for the Jets, as Fitzpatrick will surely push the battle for the starting quarterback in New York against Geno Smith.

In his first season in Houston, Fitzpatrick completed 63% of his passes with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions, missing the final month of the season after injuring his leg. Fitzpatrick is set to make $3.25 million in 2015, the final season of his contract.
