The crown jewel of the Saratoga meet is upon us, as the 143rd edition of the Travers Stakes highlights a sparkling weekend card at the Spa.  Jim Dandy winner Alpha has been installed as the 5-2 favorite on the morning-line, the first of eleven possibilities in a highly competitive - though perhaps not overly class-packed - field.  Haskell runner-up Nonios represents the race's second choice at 4-1, with the victim of Alpha's slow Dandy pace, Neck 'n Neck, the third option at 9-2.

In an attempt to handicap the race, I was joined by retired jockey turned NYRA analyst Richard Migliore on the weekly web-based program, the 2 Guys 1 Mic Podcast - the audio for my interview with Migliore is found just below this paragraph.  Links to our full written previews can also be found below - as well as the link to the full episode of the podcast.  Be sure to follow me on Twitter for news, notes, and handicapping advice throughout the weekend.  Good luck! **iPad and iPhone Users: Click the red link below the audio player to download each segment.**

With over 4,000 career wins, Richard Migliore is a staple of New York Racing.  After racing for nearly thirty years - most of which were spent on the East coast and in the Northeast - the man they call "The Mig" retired from racing in 2010.  In addition to the sheer volume of wins, "The Mig" collected over 350 stakes wins, 25 Grade 1 wins, and a George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award - presented annually to the jockey who demonstrates both personal and professional conduct.
