Led by the backcourt duo of Mike Black and Jacob Iati who combined for 38 points, the Great Danes went on the road and defeated Colgate 67-61 Saturday afternoon.

Iati had 20 points while Black scored 18. A third Great Dane also hit double figures as reserve guard Peter Hooley knocked down 11 points.

Albany continued to do damage from the three point line, hitting eight against the Red Raiders of Colgate. The Danes were outrebounded, had fewer assists, less steals but Colgate hit only two of 15 from downtown, 18 points less than UAlbany popped for.

Iati hit six of 12 from long distance. He missed his only two two point shots. Black, on the other hand, had the better all around game. In addition to his 18 points, the point guard also dished two helpers and led UAlbany with seven rebounds.

The Danes also improved their free throw shooting, icing the game from the foul line hitting six shots in the final 50 seconds. For the game they connected on 15 of 20 from the charity stripe.

UAlbany, now 8-2 on the season, lead the America East by a full game over idle Stony Brook. Head coach Will Brown's club has a light schedule for the Christmas holidays playing just twice in the next 13 days. One of those games is Wednesday against South Carolina State on their home court.
