UFC 189 featured one of the organization's all time great bouts but some fighters could struggle to ever recover. Robbie Lawlor was able to successfully defend his UFC welterweight title against Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 in what many fans and experts are calling one of the all time great fights in UFC history. Indeed the co-main event in Las Vegas this past weekend may end up as one of the organzation's all time great bouts but both competitors suffered multiple injuries following the fight. MacDonald posted the above picture to his Twitter account (@Rory_MacDonald) showing how much damage had been done to his face. MacDonald finished with both a broken nose and a broken foot. The 25 year old's recovery to get back in the octagon will indeed be delayed as he recovers from these injuries. The champion Lawlor suffered a massive cut to his lip which can be seen in the picture below.

Injuries were already a storyline heading into UFC 189 as featherweight champion Jose Aldo pulled out of the main event with Conor McGregor after suffering a rib injury during training. McGregor won the interim title after defeating Chad Mendes in the second round. Although the popular McGregor won in front of the supportive crowd, MacDonald and Lawlor was the fight of the night. The UFC has yet to confirm if fans will get a chance to see MacDonald-Lawlor 3 in the future.
