Junior forward Wayne Simpson earned ECAC Hockey Player of the Week and freshman defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere earned ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Simpson had two multiple-point games this past weekend, scoring twice in a 3-1 win over No. 20 Colgate, and recording a goal and an assist in a 4-4 tie against No. 14 Cornell.

Against Colgate Friday night, Simpson broke a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal at 3:05 of the third period, and added an empty net goal later in the period. Simpson added another power-play goal in the first period against Cornell, and recorded the primary assist on the game-tying goal against the Big Red at 17:28 of the third period.

Gostisbehere had a standout weekend for the Dutchmen, with assists on five of Union's eight goals. He recorded the primary assist on Simpson's game-winning goal in the third period against Colgate. On Saturday night against Cornell, Gostisbehere matched a school record for assists in a conference game with four on the night, as Union rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn the tie against the Big Red.

The Dutchmen will hit the road this weekend to take on Dartmouth at Thompson Arena on Friday night in a contest that begins at 7:00 p.m.
