UAlbany football head coach Greg Gattuso won the CAA coach of the year yesterday and it was the best and obvious choice.  Coach Gattuso arguably has his best team in his tenth season now with the Great Danes and it is night and day from last year when they finished 3-8 and lost a lot of close games.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Nobody deserves the CAA coach of the year award more than Greg Gattuso. Gattuso has grinded through 10 seasons at UAlbany but this season all his hard work has paid off in a banner season.  Gattuso had a great team in 2019 when they made the FCS playoffs, but this squad is even better. It's not easy to produce a 7-1 record in the CAA and to go 9-3 overall. You need to make good decisions on the recruiting trails, with the transfer portal then have the right coaching staff to put it all together. It all falls back on the head coach win or lose and this season the Great Danes have done a lot of winning. Gattuso is a very good coach great person and it's nice hs getting the accolades he deserves this season. Gattuso will enjoy a nice Thanksgiving.

I like the Great Danes chances to win and advance in the FCS playoffs.  They are a dangerous team and are very good on both sides of the ball.  Look out for UAlbany to make some noise and surprise even more people.
