This New York Mets team is under achieving on so many levels.  It all starts with their ace Max Scherzer.  Scherzer is getting over $40 million per year and has not pitched even close to that level.  Something is wrong with him but it is hard to pinpoint what it is.  It could be his old age or an injury that we're not aware of yet.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Max Scherzer is impossible to figure out, and it will end up costing the New York Mets a trip to the postseason. It was painful watching Scherzer give up 4 home runs on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, but this is becoming more of the norm. Maybe not 4 home runs, but too many long balls and too many bad outings as opposed to good. It’s not what the Mets signed him for, and unfortunately this is what you're going to get from Scherzer the rest of the season. The vintage Scherzer starts are few and far between.
