Will The UAlbany Football Team Beat SDSU On Friday Night?

The UAlbany football team has had an incredible and special season and they defeated the Idaho Vandals on the road on Saturday night 30-22. It was a gutsy win on the road and now they advance to their first ever FCS playoff semifinal appearance. They will take on a very good South Dakota State team on Friday night at 7 p.m. and you can hear it right here on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

The UAlbany football team deserves all the accolades they are getting thrown their way. The Great Danes have reached the Final Four of the FCS Playoffs and are one win away from playing for the National Title. Head Coach Greg Gattuso has built a team that can beat you on either side of the ball which is exactly how they upset Idaho on Saturday in the quarterfinals. The next hurdle is a much more difficult task at top seeded South Dakota State in the Semifinal round but UAlbany is a dangerous team with nothing to lose.

Now it is off to Brookings South Dakota. Head coach Greg Gattuso has done a tremendous job this season and quarterback Reese Poffenbarger has been playing out of his mind. The defense has been excellent in virtually every game and that is a recipe for success when you have a great quarterback, a great head coach, and a great defense. I like the Great Danes chances to advance to the FCS championship in Frisco Texas on Sunday January 7th.
