Yankee Errors Help Rays Win
It was a very sloppy game by the New York Yankees last night. 2 big errors led to the winning run crossing the plate in the Rays 3-2 win.
On Monday the Yankees were able to sneak by the Rays for a win, but on Tuesday night it's the Rays that are able to capitalize on some key errors to get the 3-2 victory. Since the return from the all star break the Yankees have been playing very sloppy. They split a series with the sub par Blue Jays and have continued that sloppy play against the Rays on Monday and Tuesday.
Bartolo Colon didn't have a bad start for the bombers. He goes over 6 innings before being relived by Boon Logan. Unfortunately for Colon he left the game with runners on, so he gets the earned runs, but just 2 of them. The third run crossed the plate thanks to a throwing error by Curtis Granderson. Boon Logan made a throwing error before that which led to a score as well.
The Yankees weren't able to capitalize on any hits, only notching 3 last night. Robinson Cano continues to be a bright spot with 2 RBI's last night. Brett Gardner was 2-3 with 2 stolen bases on the night. The Yanks have 2 more games against the Rays at Tropicana Field before coming back home to face the Oakland Athletics.
One good thing for the Yankees is that the Red Sox also lost, 6-2 to the Orioles, so right now new York remains 1.5 games back of Boston in the AL East.
