“Here’s the reality, when you have an organization that has won 27 World Championships, even though George Steinbrenner isn’t around, the Steinbrenner doctrine will forever remain," said ESPN's Buster Olney, to 'Armen and Levack' on 104.5 The Team.

"Levack knows this in his heart. If you have a season in which you do not win the World Series, especially a year in which you reach the postseason and don’t win the World Series, it’s regarded as a failure.

"That was absolutely the way it was under George Steinbrenner and it will be the way it is because the fans have taken it on as their doctrine. Levack, as big of a Yankee fan as he is, knows when you lose a game like that [Wednesday] night, even if they played in the ALCS, they would have been disappointed with the end result.”

ESPN's Buster Olney joins 'Armen and Levack' every Thursday at 5:15p ET, sponsored by All Star Wine and Spirits, and exclusively on 104 The Team.
