The Yankees lost two of three to Boston to open the season while Detroit lost two of three to Minnesota.  Pitching match-ups for this weekend in Motown:  Ivan Nova versus Doug Fister on Friday, David Phelps versus Max Scherzer on Saturday and CC Sabathia versus Justin Verlander on Sunday.

What to look for:  Robinson Cano's production.  Cano has done nothing so far this season, yet he is expected to carry the Yankees through all of the injuries, age and lack of lineup production.  He had one hit in 11 at-bats against Boston and is hitting 0.91 with no RBI.  It is a 162-game season, sure, but the Yanks need Cano every night in some offensive capacity.

Prediction:  Tigers take two of three.  The Yankees don't match-up well with Detroit to begin with and add to that New York having to go up against Tiger hitting with Miguel Cabrera (AL Triple Crown winner last season), Prince Fielder, Austin Jackson and Omar Infante as well as the pitching variations of Fister-Scherzer-Verlander (best in baseball arguably).  This is a tall order for the pinstripes.  New York could get overpowered in this series.  But, it is baseball after all, so you never know.
