Beginning with tomorrow night's game at Worcester (start time of 7 p.m. on "The Team"), the Albany Devils enter the final six games of the 2011-12 regular season and remain in the hunt for a playoff spot in the wide open Eastern Conference. The Devils are one of seven teams within 5 points of each other, all competing for the final two playoff spots in the East.

Albany is coming off a 2-1-0-0 weekend, with home victories against Rochester and Providence, followed by a home loss this past Saturday against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The team sits at 30-29-6-5 with 71 points on the season, placing them 12th in the Eastern Conference and just five points out of a playoff spot.

During my conversation with Devils head coach Rick Kowalsky, we discussed several issues:

  • The health status of goalie Jeff Frazee, who took a scary shot to the eye (on accident) from an opposing player's stick
  • How happy Coach Kowalsky is with the team's effort over the last few weeks, as they enter the final playoff push
  • What the Devils need to accel at in the final six games of the regular season
