It's nearly impossible to crack the code as a former player, and find your way back into the league in which you once played, this time, as a coach.

It wasn't impossible for Jay Leach, however. The former Altamont resident "krak"ed that code in less than a decade.

Originally from Syracuse, Leach moved to Altamont (west of Guilderland and north of Thacher Park after a quick Google search) around two years old, according to The Times Union's profile on hockey players from the Capital Region. Leach shined at Albany Academy, as well as with the Capital District Selects, leading him to a collegiate and professional career.

Less than a decade after retiring from playing, Leach is back in the big leagues. Here are the stops he made along the way back to the NHL.
