The American Hockey League today announced the 2013-14 Albany Devils schedule and the team will open the doors to Times Union Center on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 5:05 pm against one of the league’s newest teams, the Utica Comets. The Devils begin the season at the Hartford WolfPack on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3:00 pm.

Thirty-one of the Devils home games will be played during the weekend: nine Friday matches, 15 Saturday outings and seven Sunday games. Including the home opener, all 14 of the team’s Saturday contests at Times Union Center will be matinees. Games against Portland (Oct. 26 and Dec. 28), Adirondack (Nov. 9 and Feb. 15), Bridgeport (Nov. 30), Hartford (Dec. 14 and Mar. 15), Providence (Dec. 28 and Apr. 12), Manchester (Jan. 11), Norfolk (Feb. 22), Worcester (Mar. 29), and Springfield (Apr. 19) will begin at 5 pm. An outing against Adirondack (Jan. 25) will begin at 2 pm.

The New Jersey Devils have scheduled four AHL Devils games at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, which hosted AHL contests during the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons and was the site of the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic. The team will face Hershey on Jan. 12 and Feb. 14, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Mar. 1 and Mar. 23 at Boardwalk Hall.

All five of Albany’s Sunday games at Times Union Center take place after the New Year. Matches versus Binghamton (Jan. 26 and Mar. 30) and Utica (Feb. 23) are slated for 3 pm, while games against Syracuse (Mar. 16 and Apr. 13) are scheduled for 5 pm.

The team will play a pair of weekday matinee games, starting at 2 pm, on Columbus Day and Veterans’ Day. The Devils face Adirondack on Oct. 14 and Bridgeport on Nov. 11.

Albany’s longest homestand comes in a four-game set at Times Union Center between Oct. 25-Nov. 1. The Devils will participate in a season-long five-game road trip between Mar. 2-14.

Under the league’s scheduling matrix, Albany will face Northeast Division opponents Adirondack 12 times, Bridgeport 10 times, Hartford eight times and Springfield eight times.
