The next generation of box lacrosse players will be getting their start in the Capital Region.

The Albany FireWolves have announced the creation of the CRCBLL. Short for Capital Region Collegiate Box Lacrosse League, will give current college athletes and a select handful of high school players the opportunity to train with the world's best in indoor lacrosse players.

The process begins with an evaluation period, in which players will have the opportunity to tryout for the league and showcase their skills against some of the region's best athletes. The evaluations begin on June 1st, and kick off a season that will last through the 26th of July. Each week will feature one practice and one game, with a "championship final" at the end of the season.

Now, let's talk about what you all came here to read about...the perks. This is a can't-miss opportunity for players looking to gain a competitive edge with their high school and college teams. Each player will get the opportunity to train and learn from players on the FireWolves. One of those players is Joe Nardella, who we talked to on Levack & Bahl last week. Let me tell you a bit about Joe, thanks to the Premier Lacrosse League's website:

After being named finalist for the Paul Cantabene Faceoff Man of the Year Award following a massive 2019, Joe Nardella took his game to even greater heights in 2020. Dominating the stripe through the PLL Championship Series in 2020, Nardella won 72% of his 138 draws and scooped up 65 ground balls. - Premier Lacrosse League

You read that right. A faceoff percentage over 70, and a work ethic unlike any other. This is the quality of player members of the CRCBLL will be learning from. Per the team press release, players will also receive one free ticket to a FireWolves game for the upcoming season, 25% off team merch, and will be eligible for awards at the end of the season.
