Great News: The Albany Firewolves Are Here To Stay
The Albany Firewolves are here to stay and it was just announced on Tuesday morning that they will be here for another six years. They extended their lease agreement in Albany through and with the MVP Arena which is an awesome thing. They will have new former number one pick Dyson Williams on their already talented roster. Obviously they want to see an overall increase in fan support with their attendance that saw them be only a few games short of the NLL championship last year. Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Nice to see the Albany FireWolves signing a six-year contract extension with MVP Arena but attendance needs to improve if the partnership in Albany going to hold up long term. Last year's playoff run coupled with the addition of Dyson Williams the NLL's top draft pick to the roster should help the FireWolves take the next step. The magic number is about 5 thousand fans per game and Albany is inching its way closer to that number and close enough that ownership sees a bright future and wants to stick around for a while.
MJ and I had Firewolves team president Chris Porreca in studio with us earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports. Below is our full interview with him enjoy.
The optimism is very high regarding the Albany Firewolves as it should be. They have a real shot to run it back and try to twin the National Lacrosse League championship.
