On this Saturday's edition of "Capital Region Sports Saturday," brought to you by Mohawk Honda, we opened the show talking about Albany High School becoming a football power again.

Albany High? A football power? The Falcons are 3-47 in their last 50 games  They haven't won a Class AA game since 2007.

But earlier this week it was announced that the Falcons will open their brand-new, turf field on Oct. 17.

This new facility will be the tipping point and will bring Albany back to prominence. It will help keep kids in the district rather than going to private schools. It's also the first time that Albany will play on campus and that is huge because it will mean that players and fans don't have to worry about getting to an off-campus location for practices and games.

We brought on head coach Joey DiPiazza as well to talk about all that.

Listen here and listen to Capital Region Sports Saturday, 9-10 a.m. weekly.
