Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner American Pharoah drew the 5 post for the 147th Belmont Stakes

American Pharoah opened as 3-5 favorite and will run out of the number five post for the 147th Belmont Stakes on June 6th. Pharoah is looking to become horse racing's first triple crown winner since 1978. Recent history is not on the side of the horse trained by Bob Baffert. In the last eight Belmont races the odds on favorite entering the starting post has been unable to win claim victory.  Each of the last six Belmont Stakes, with a Triple Crown at stake, were won by a horse that was either a newcomer to the Triple Crown races or ran in the Kentucky Derby and then skipped the Preakness. American Pharoah will be competing against seven other horses in this weekend's race. The eight horse field is the smallest field since the 2007 Belmont. Frosted, drew the number six post and opened as the second favorite. Materiality opened as the third favorite and will run from the far outside in the number eight post.
