Jackson was picked up by the Bills in 2006 as a free agent and since then, has amassed over 5,600 yards and 87 touchdowns in a Bills uniform.

The first two pre-season games of the year were missed by Jackson, who was sitting out with a hamstring injury. On Saturday night, in the Bills third pre-season game, Jackson performed well and many thought that he would be able to make the team.

The NFL Network reports that Jackson was never given the option to take a pay cut from the Bills, he was simply given his pink slip on Monday morning.

The depth chart for the Bills at running back now includes Lesean McCoy, Boobie Dixon and Karlos Williams.
