Its hard to describe just exactly how good Bruce Smith was to someone if they never had a chance to lay eyes on him. I describe him as simply: The best defensive end the game of football has ever seen. Nobody in NFL history has more than his 200 sacks. He went to 11 pro-bowls. He was voted first team all pro nine separate times. He once recorded 19 sacks in a single season. He was the #1 pick in the 1985 draft and remained productive through his final season in 2003. What a career.

Tonight the Buffalo Bills will officially retire his #78 jersey. It's only the second jersey to be retired, along with Jim Kelly, in Buffalo Bills history. My only question is, what took so long?

Check out the compilation video which features all 19 of Bruce Smith's sacks from the 1990 season.
