Buffalo Bandits Play Golf With The NLL Championship Cup

Some of the Buffalo Bandits have used their trophy to play golf recently.  They earned it.  Can they do whatever they want with it?

You may have heard some of the stories about what some players have done with the Stanley Cup after winning it, right?  Well, the Bandits are getting pretty creative with the ways that they're using their trophy too.

Last Saturday night June 3, 2023 the Bandits were able to secure a win at Key Bank Center to bring home their 5th National Lacrosse League Championship.  It's been a while since they've been able to win the whole thing.  The last time they did it was 2008.  But now that they've won, they're celebrating - big time!

If you were in Buffalo over the weekend, you may have seen when Bandits player Dhane Smith came out with the NLL Cup in hand to share drinks that he was pouring out of it from the bar.

Now they're playing golf with the NLL Cup

Today, they tweeted out a video of them playing golf with it.

Now, I don't mean they were playing golf and brought it along to carry it in their golf cart.  I mean, they were literally playing golf with the trophy.  They used it to sink a putt!

Is it disrespectful to use a coveted trophy like that?

Some would argue that it's disrespectful to use something coveted like that in that way. How would you feel if the Bills won the Lombardi or the Sabres won the Stanley Cup and they did that?

I mean...I'd be fine with it.

First of all, it's just a symbol of what they've accomplished.  No one will ever be able to take away from them the fact that they've been crowned the 2023 champs.  Teams work very hard to accomplish that.  They should be able to celebrate it.

Also, what would those people prefer to happen with the cup?  Would they prefer to have it sit on a table in a museum for people to see?  As long as they aren't defacing it, then let them do what they want with it.
