The Buffalo Sabres are in the midst of playing the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL Heritage Classic.

The game is being played in Hamilton, Ontario at Tim Hortons Stadium. The first time an American-based team has ever played in the Heritage Classic, which typically features two Canadian-based teams every couple of years.

The Sabres won’t make the playoffs once again, while the Toronto Maple Leafs are a playoff contender in 2022, although many fans are skeptical of their chances since they have not won a playoff series in nearly 20 years.

The weather in Hamilton is 28 degrees and snowing, but that did not stop the Sabres from taking the opportunity to make a statement and give everyone some much needed laughs.

The entire Sabres team decided to surprise everyone by stepping off their team bus before the game in basketball jerseys from the movie, “Semi-Pro.”

The Sabres clearly won the internet today.

“Semi-Pro” was a 2008 comedy starring Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson and Andre Benjamin.

I love how the entire team embraced this idea. It’s such a great movie to showcase too. It’s not a hugely popular movie but cult enough to get a chuckle from most everyone.

The weather added to the hilarity of it all.

The setting in Hamilton is so cool. Hopefully, the Sabres get to do this again soon at Highmark Stadium, or even, their brand new stadium which appears to be somewhere on the horizon.
