A sight you never want to see

There's one thing in the world of sports that instantly makes me feel sick to my stomach, and that's non contact injuries. Anytime you see someone go down in that fashion your mind ALWAYS jumps to "did he just tear something?"  Unfortunately, the diagnosis is in, and it revealed the awful news that it was indeed a torn ACL for Austin III. There's nothing that can be done about it now, so what does this all mean for the Giants?

Odell's path home just got smoother

It was a big question whether or not Odell Beckham Jr would even make this roster let alone have a decent amount of playing time. But now that Big Blue is down a wide receiver, it seems like Odell's Giants return is meant to be.

Odell definitely made the most of his opportunity, as following the Austin injury he had his most productive day of camp thus far, including this vintage one handed grab you see here.

If I had to predict, I would expect the Giants to carry six receivers, those receivers being Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, Darius Slayton, Malachi Fields, Braxton Berrios, and finally Odell Beckham Jr.

Timing couldn't be worse

I truly feel so bad for Calvin Austin III in this situation. One, I can only imagine how painful a torn ACL truly is, two this could not have happened at a worse time. Calvin Austin III signed a one year deal with the Giants in an attempt to bring his value back up and get a long term contract somewhere. He was also expected to take a bulk of the targets that former Giant Wan'Dale Robinson got last year. So now Austin III is back to square one, most likely signing another one year deal next offseason somewhere, in an attempt to secure a long term contract.
