It is a special time of year for local sports in the Capital Region especially high school football.  This is weekend where a team from the Capital Region goes to Syracuse to play for  a state championship at the Dome.  I continue this discussion in my quick take from the Times Union:

I have been covering Cambridge High School football since 1986, and that’s just about the time head coach Doug Luke was starting as an assistant coach with the program. 30 plus years later, and Luke is taking Cambridge/Salem to its 7th Super Bowl appearance under his leadership with a chance to win his 4th State Title. This one is extra special for Luke because his son Alex is a senior wide receiver, and it would be very gratifying to win one together. Who knows how much longer Luke will coach, but a win over Tioga on Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse with his son playing in his last season, might be a good time to retire. Regardless, Luke has made his mark and has been a big part of the incredible legacy of Cambridge football.

MJ and I were joined by Cambridge Salem Head Coach Doug Luke earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  He gave his thoughts ahead of a big matchup Saturday afternoon against Tioga.  Below is our full interview with Coach Luke.

I along with all of the Capital Region are rooting for Cambridge/Salem to win Saturday afternoon and bring home another state title.  It is a special time of year for local high school football and we wish them the best of luck!
