Daniel Carr Won a National Title with Union Hockey

A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Carr committed to Union College while playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Carr was fantastic in his final year before coming to the Capital Region, putting up 54 points in just 30 games with the St. Albert Steel.

Carr was a difference-maker for then-head coach Rick Bennett's staff right away. His 35 points in 40 games were good for third on the Dutchmen as a freshman, and he continued to improve from there. He finished third on the team in scoring in each of his first three seasons.

As a senior, Carr blossomed into a leader on the team, and led a team full of future professional hockey players in scoring. Joined by Shayne Gostisbehere, Mat Bodie and Mike Vecchione, won a national title in 2014, taking down Minnesota by a score of 7-4.

Carr Was Named to the Canadian Olympic Team for Beijing

Following his success at Union College, Carr signed with the Montreal Canadiens organization. After spending a full season in the AHL with Hamilton, Carr made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 season. Carr spent each of the next three seasons bouncing between the Canadiens and their AHL affiliate, before departing for the Vegas Golden Knights organization. Though he played most of the season in the AHL, Carr was one of the best players in the league, scoring 30 goals and racking up 71 points in 52 games.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Carr made the choice to move to Switzerland, and join the team HC Lugano in the Swiss Hockey League, where he plays with 2018 U.S. Olympic hockey player, Mark Arcobello. Because Carr does not currently have a contract with an NHL team, he was not banned from competing in the Olympics.

On January 25, 2022, Team Canada announced their men's hockey roster, Carr was a part of it.
