Who Will Win The Mayor’s Cup: RPI Or Union Men’s Hockey?
It is finally Mayor's Cup week which is always a great event for the Capital Region. The puck will drop between RPI and Union men's hockey at 6 p.m. in downtown Albany at the MVP Arena. It should be a battle per usual as both Dave Smith and Josh Hauge are ready and want to win for the local college hockey bragging rights. Both teams are off to very good starts in the ECAC. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
We devote of lot of attention to college basketball in the Capital Region and rightfully so, but don't ever underestimate the popularity of college hockey. RPI and Union meet in the Mayor's Cup game on Saturday at MVP Arena and a crowd of 8,000 will be there to watch the bragging rights game between the two rival schools. The women's game start at 3pm followed by the men's game at 6pm, and it's the biggest crowd's teams will play in front of. The games do not count in the ECAC standings but winning the Cup is more important.

It is an even matchup on paper and there should be a big crowd of over 10,000 at the MVP Arena. I highly encourage our listeners and fans of both teams to go watch both of these schools play as it's always an awesome and fun event in the Capital Region. Good luck to both teams, coaches, and fanbases and I hope it's an awesome game.
