Capital Region Greatest Sports Moment Bracket: Play-In Matchup 1
This week on 104.5 the Team we are starting up the #CapitalRegionGreatestSportsMomentBracket as we are trying to crown the best sports moment in the history of the Capital Region as decided by you! There are so many great moments and like the NCAA had to expand their field, we expanded ours so therefore today we have our first play-in matchup!
(5) Birdstone wins the Travers Stakes in 2004
Mary Lou Whitney and Trainer Nick Zito teamed up to win their first Travers Stakes. Birdstone had won the Belmont Stakes earlier that racing season. The weather was acting up late in the race, lots of rain and darkness as you can see in the video below:
(5) The 14th seeded Siena Saints Beat no. 3 Stanford in 1989 NCAA Tournament
The underdog Saints played the Cardinal in Greensboro, North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and Siena pulled off the upset. Marc Brown scored 32 points including the game winning free throws. Relive the game below!
