New York State Police have found the man who hit a CDTA bus while carrying an untraceable "ghost" gun.

A State Trooper observed a car speeding way over the limit on I-787 South through Albany around 3pm. According to the NYSP report, the suspect was traveling so fast, the Trooper could not initially catch up. While the Trooper was regaining position in the pursuit, the suspect crashed his car into a CDTA bus at South Pearl Street while trying to leave the Interstate.

Fortunately the bus was entirely empty, even though it was the middle of the day, and the bus driver was unharmed. The suspect had already fled on foot by the time State Police arrived on the scene of the accident.

When NYSP searched the automobile, they discovered the loaded 9mm "ghost" gun with an attached laser sight. "Ghost" guns are firearms without serial numbers that are essentially untraceable. They are typically assembled at home by the buyer and do not require any background checks.

After running the tags on the automobile used by the suspect, they discovered it was a rental car that traced directly back to the perpetrator - an Albany resident. State Police had been searching for the suspect since the incident on May 9.

He turned himself in on the 24th to the NYSP post in Latham. The 26 year old suspect now faces two different charges: second-degree felony possession of a weapon, and second-degree reckless endangerment, which is a misdemeanor.
