Chad Brown is considered by most to be the best trainer in horse racing. His barn is the deepest with talent at Saratoga Race Course this summer and has been for a few years now. He is the defending top trainer at the Spa, he wins that title at Belmont and he is a multiple Eclipse Award winner for top trainer in the country. There are a few 'firsts' out there still for the Mechanicville native, however and he can check one of them off the list after Saturday.

The Travers Stakes is the biggest race of the Saratoga meet, and Brown is yet to win the Midsummer Derby, but prior to Saturday, he also had not The Alabama; a marquee race for three-year old fillies.

Brown sent the favorite, Dunbar Road, to the starting gate and with jockey Jose Ortiz aboard, she got to the wire first. While this is the first win in the Grade 1 Alabama for Brown, it is the third straight victory in this race for Ortiz. He is the first jockey to string together three straight Alabama wins since Jerry Bailey in the late 90s.
